Make the northern peninsula your base for a little lakeside riding and a picnic. Keeping this as an out-and-back lets you turn when the group is ready rather than committing to a complete lap.
RideFinder’s suggested cap is 2 km outward on the signed shoreline cycle path, then return the same way: up to 4 km. This is not the full Lake Ginninderra circuit; use your own distance counter and turn earlier if needed. Time is a planning allowance, not a measured ride time.
Follow the ride.

- Start / Diddams Close precinct
Start from Diddams Close
Use the district park’s northern peninsula access and find the shoreline cycle path. Check signs so you do not follow one of the separate walking tracks.
- By 2 km / Shoreline turnaround
Choose a short shoreline ride
Follow the signed cycle path as a group, keeping the return route in mind at junctions. Turn by 2 km outward or earlier at a convenient clear space.
- Up to 4 km / Back for a picnic
Come back for a picnic
Retrace the same path to your starting area. Finish the riding before settling into the playground or a longer lunch.
MAKE IT A SMALLER OUTING
Stay within the park precinct
Take a five- to ten-minute ride on the cycle path, then retrace it. A short visit still leaves plenty of time to enjoy the lakeside setting.
Places to pause.
Along the cycle path
Lakeside viewing pause
Pull off in a broad space and look for waterbirds from the shore. Avoid blocking narrow paths or fishing access.

District park picnic
Bring lunch and leave the bikes where they cannot obstruct other visitors. Treat the picnic as the destination rather than extending the ride by default.

The park has walking tracks and a separate dog exercise area. Stay on the cycle route, slow near playgrounds and allow plenty of room for people with dogs.
These are bicycle outings. Scooter access and e-bike requirements need a separate check for the device and location.
A couple of useful answers.
Is this the full lake loop?
No. It is a shorter out-and-back with a maximum of 2 km outward. Follow the same path home rather than continuing around the lake.
Is the learner centre part of this ride?
No. This plan uses the shared shoreline cycle path. For first starts and stops, use a dedicated learner centre as a separate visit.
