Keep this outing small and let the park do the rest. Meet near Lake Alexander, ride a short section of East Point’s designated bicycle paths and return for a shaded break. There is no need to turn the reserve visit into a long loop.
This is a RideFinder distance cap, not a surveyed circuit. Follow permitted cycle paths no farther than 2 km from your start, then retrace them for up to 4 km return. Time is a planning allowance, not a measured ride time.

- Start / Lake Alexander area
Meet near Lake Alexander
Use the council reserve map to locate the bicycle paths and choose an out-and-back section. Check the signs before joining; do not assume walking trails allow cycling.
- By 2 km / Your chosen turnaround
Make it a short ride
Turn within 2 km of the start, or much earlier if heat or the group’s energy calls for it. The military museum and forest trails are not required destinations.
- Up to 4 km / Back near the lake
Return for a shaded pause
Retrace the same permitted path to the Lake Alexander area. Park the bikes before visiting the playground or settling into a picnic space.
MAKE IT A SMALLER OUTING
A few minutes out is enough
Set a short turnaround time and leave the rest of the visit for a park break. In hot conditions, skip the ride rather than stretching the plan.

Lake Alexander parkland
Choose a picnic space and make it the agreed regrouping point. The lake is a setting for this bicycle outing; a swim requires its own current-condition check.

Reserve picnic areas
Use the council map to identify an appropriate pause. Stop fully clear of the bicycle path and use existing facilities instead of disturbing habitat.
Council: reserve and Lake Alexander mapAlong the way
Keep wildlife and other park users plenty of space. The council lists no dogs in the reserve. Do not take bicycles onto a boardwalk or forest walking trail unless signs expressly permit it.
These are bicycle outings. Scooter access and e-bike requirements need a separate check for the device and location.
A couple of useful answers.
Does this include the monsoon forest trail?
No. The outing stays on designated bicycle paths. The reserve also has walking trails; those are not automatically open to bikes.
Must we complete a reserve loop?
No. The suggested ride is a short out-and-back with a maximum distance. Return earlier if conditions or the group’s comfort change.
