Keep the outing simple: follow the beachfront between Henley Square and Grange Jetty, then come back the same way. The sea is the main event; a stop at either end is a bonus.
Approximately 2 km each way between the two jetty precincts. This is a planning estimate; the approach you choose adds distance. Time is a planning allowance, not a measured ride time.
Follow the ride.
Approximate cumulative distance. Detours and your access point change the total.
- Start / Henley Square
Start slowly
Walk through the busiest part of the square before joining the path. Set a pace that leaves room for walkers and people coming off the beach.
- About 2 km / Grange Jetty precinct
Follow the coast
Continue north towards Grange Jetty on the signed shared route. Stop before the jetty precinct if the group has already had enough; you do not need to reach the far end.
- About 4 km / Back at Henley Square
Make it an out-and-back
Take a break at Grange, then retrace the coastal path. Allow extra effort for the return if the wind changes.
MAKE IT A SMALLER OUTING
Keep Henley in sight
Choose your own earlier turnaround on the same path. Decide together before setting off; reaching Grange is optional. Allow as much time and energy for coming back as going out.
Places to pause.
At the start and finish
Henley Square
Use the seating and shade for a pause before or after riding. Leave the bike securely parked if you head onto the beach or into a café.
Square facilitiesThe suggested turnaround
Grange Jetty precinct
Stop clear of the shared path and decide whether to take a food break. Walk through crowded areas around the jetty; the jetty itself is not part of this riding itinerary.
Coastal trail guideAlong the way
Expect pedestrians, dogs and busy beach access points. Dismount wherever signed or crowded. This outing stops at Grange; it does not assume a completed coastal connection north through Tennyson.
These are bicycle outings. Scooter access and e-bike requirements need a separate check for the device and location.
A couple of useful answers.
Is this a loop?
No. This outing follows the coast north from Henley to Grange and returns along the same shared route. Plan around roughly 4 km in total, with extra distance for your arrival and any detours.
Can I keep riding north of Grange?
That is outside this itinerary. Check the current Coast Park project information and local signs before planning a longer ride; do not assume every coastal section is continuous.
