A good fit for
A short riverside outing for riders who can manage shared paths and ramps. Choose the section around the least confident rider.
Arrival & parking
Council lists on-street parking at the Riverview Drive reserve in Lockleys. Use the reserve pin and check local restrictions.
Toilets & water
Council lists a drinking fountain, picnic space, seating and an unfenced playground. Toilets are not listed at this reserve.

You do not need to ride the whole Torrens trail. Use the Riverview Drive reserve in Lockleys as a base for a short out-and-back, with room for a picnic or playground stop afterwards.

RideFinder’s suggested distance cap: turn around after at most 2 km on the path for a return outing of up to 4 km. This is not a signed 4 km circuit. Time is a planning allowance, not a measured ride time.

Follow the ride.

A distance cap for a flexible out-and-back, not a mapped or signed 4 km circuit.

  1. Start / Riverview Drive reserve

Use the reserve as your base

Join the riverside shared path from the reserve. Check the signposted connection and decide on a turnaround time before leaving.

  2. Up to 2 km out / Your chosen turnaround

    Choose a short section

Follow the signed path in either direction. Turn back before any crossing or ramp that does not suit your group, or at 2 km at the latest.

  3. Up to 4 km total / Back to the reserve

    Return for a stop

Retrace the same path to the reserve. Leave time for the unfenced playground or a picnic rather than using all your energy on distance.

MAKE IT A SMALLER OUTING

Turn at the first comfortable stopping place

There is no destination to tick off. If a ramp, crossing or busy section does not suit the group, turn back before it and keep the rest of the outing at the reserve.

Places to pause.

At your base in Lockleys

Riverview Drive playground

Save some of the outing for a play break after returning. The playground is unfenced, so keep supervision separate from packing bikes or organising the picnic.

At the same start and finish point

Reserve picnic space

Use the listed seating, natural shade and picnic space as the reason to return. Stopping at the base keeps the outing flexible without needing to find a café farther along the path.

Reserve facilities & location

Along the way

The river and playground are unfenced. Paths are shared with walkers and other riders; ramps, bridges and local access points need attention. Follow closures and detours on the day.

These are bicycle outings. Scooter access and e-bike requirements need a separate check for the device and location.

A couple of useful answers.

Which direction should we ride?

Choose a signed path connection from the reserve that suits the group, using the cycling map and signs on arrival. This flexible outing does not prescribe a bank, crossing sequence or named endpoint.

Is the 4 km distance a marked trail?

No. It is RideFinder’s suggested maximum for this outing: at most 2 km outward, then back along the same path. Turn earlier if the conditions or group call for it.

IF YOU’RE CHOOSING A BIKE

Start with the ride.

Choose a bike you can comfortably brake and turn on a shared path. This short outing does not call for a specialist mountain bike.
